COVID-19 Advisory

Due to the effects on Jamaica by COVID-19, and in keeping with the advice and guidelines given by the Ministry of Health &Wellness, as well as the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, resumption of local tournaments has not been approved by the Jamaica Badminton Association.

Recommended guidelines and protocols for the resumption of group badminton events and tournaments have been shared with the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the review of which is in progress. We await the necessary feedback and approval from the Ministry on this matter to inform on the best way forward for our sport and country.

As a result of this, and also due to the recent rise in the number of reported COVID-19 cases in Jamaica; please be advised that the Jamaica Badminton Association will continue to suspend the hosting of tournaments in Jamaica; this also means that no other badminton tournaments or similar events will be sanctioned by the association until further notice.

We continue to encourage our athletes, coaches, administrators and other stakeholders to follow the health guidelines as outlined by the related government agencies, to ensure that we take every precaution to minimize the spread of this deadly virus. This includes refraining from hosting or participating in unsanctioned badminton tournaments.

Let us continue to be vigilant in our efforts to be safe.
